These cups are 100% compostable in commercial compost facilities and have been certified by the Biodegradable Products Institute (BPI).  Greenhouse Compostable™ paper cups are coated with Ingeo™ polylactic acid biopolymer (PLA) which is derived from renewable plant sources and is designed to compost in 3-6 months in commercial compost facilities.   Not for hot beverages that exceed 140 degrees Fahrenheit. Appropriate composting facilities may not exist in your area, check with local officials and your waste management company. Meets ASTM D6868 standards for compostability.
